There was a player on the football team who would struggle to run the laps on the track after practice, and Sam would never leave the track until that player was finished. He was the one who would stay out there and run with him.

He's amazing, though. He has never once really complained about the situation. He's always telling the rest of us how he'll beat this cancer.

Our town has been so gracious, it's been unbelievable. We're so thankful to everybody. Sam is loved by everybody, but he worries more about everybody else, when you'd think he'd be worried about himself.

Sam came home and packed up his shoes and some extra clothes and took them to him. Sam even took extra dog food to that kid so he could feed his dog.

When he was younger, I didn't want him to wrestle because I just didn't like it. Then when he started wrestling, I fell in love with it. I think Sam was born to compete.
