"Nigel Keith Anthony Standish Vaz", known as "Keith Vaz", is a British Labour Party (UK)/Labour Party politician and has been Member of Parliament for Leicester East (UK Parliament constituency)/Leicester East since United Kingdom general election, 1987/1987. He is the longest-serving British Asian/Asian Member of the Parliament/MP and has been the Home Affairs Select Committee/Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee since July 2007. He was appointed as a member of the Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council/Privy Council in June 2006. He has been named among the most influential Asians in Britain.
