If the rain keeps up like this, we might have some more people checking in.

The government depends on us to give them information on how many families are here even if they don't plan to relocate them.

That would be a good time for people to make donations to the Red Cross or United Way in memory of those who have lost their lives due to Hurricane Katrina or in honor of our local people who help us every day like our volunteers, firefighters, members of the armed forces, or other disaster assistance groups.

We are having local expenses due to assisting evacuees that are in our community.

We will have a food truck there, so we hope everyone will drive through in the morning and get coffee and a pastry or take their lunch break with us. When parents are taking their kids to school, they should leave a little early and stop by.

If you really want to help in the best way, volunteer locally or donate money.

This has been so very massive and different from any other we've had.

Things are so chaotic down there that governments are asking people to stop sending items.

All of these families left before the storm to come here to be with family. Some will go back as soon as they get the OK to do so, but they simply don't know at this point.
