There is a lot of fear. People are just hoping the military will calm things down.

It is generally calm. People are still going to the burned out shops and trying to pick up what they can, but there are more police out on the streets now.

Mobs and looters have been hurling rocks and bricks at passing patrol police vehicles.

It's not surprising as many people would rather vote in their village constituencies. Many candidates have bought or hired boats to take voters back to their villages to vote.

A good chunk of the government's revenue comes from the businesses that have been destroyed.

Some Solomon Islanders have been resentful of the Chinese. (The Chinese) were taking up all the businesses in town and all the staff and prices were increasing unreasonably.

I can't say its normal, but its quiet.

Chinatown is basically burned down, there are only a couple of shops left standing. Right up to this morning looting is still continuing.
