I feel for Ben that he has had to stand down from the position because I know how much he does cherish it. But he also has had to weigh up what the position means and it's a courageous decision for him to make.

We see him as our best full-back, and that's where we would like him to line-up.

We've got a very disciplined football club with one player who can't live up to it and now has to show us he can to get back into our squad.

History shows he is one of the best players in the competition ... but I am no crystal ball reader.

We saw it as our only option and Michael had had plenty of opportunities in the past to address his professionalism in regard to our vision and he hadn't been able to do that.

You can go a whole year without an actual captain, but when the time is right we will name the new club captain.

I think we kicked 4.6 in the third quarter, and seven points straight in the last - but the boys were pretty tired so I am going to take that into account, certainly in the last quarter.

Over a sustained period of time Michael hasn't achieved those standards and therefore his option now is to show us that he's committed to this team and its vision by doing that through Claremont Football Club because he hasn't been able to do that at this football club.

He's a very good footballer and he's still a developing footballer so there's no doubt he'll keep improving throughout this year, and I would expect over the next year as well.
