I believe it's very important to find women and minorities on the court.

I think she would be confirmed. The Democrats would hope she would stay two or three more years. It would give the president the honor to name the first woman chief justice.

But for anybody, especially the governor .

This would certainly be a symbolic act if he (Bush) is the first Republican to make the appointment ... I believe he is right enough.

Although DeLay remains legally innocent, his announcement will lead more people, perhaps including those within his own district, to believe that he is guilty. DeLay has clearly become a liability for the Republican Party.

He certainly turned the court in a far more conservative direction. He gave states greater leeway. I think it's a pretty good legacy.

If it shows anything, it shows that for whatever reason, and perhaps part of it was the timing, was that officials were not just very successful in mobilizing voters. If you can't even mobilize your governor, then don't complain about the person barely making minimum wage who decides he's not going to leave work early and wait in line somewhere in order to go vote.

I really think that's too dicey.

I don't personally believe either would be a good leader on the court.
