Joe Roberts
FameRank: 6

"Joe Roberts" was an United States/American comic actor, who appeared in 16 of Buster Keaton's 19 silent Short subject/short films of the 1920s.

"Big Joe" Roberts, as he was known in vaudeville, toured the country with his first wife, Lillian Stuart Roberts as part of a rowdy act known as Roberts, Hays, and Roberts. Their signature routine was called "The Cowboy, the Swell and the Lady."[http://www.actorscolony.com/Roberts.htm Muskegon Actors' Colony - Big Joe Roberts] at www.actorscolony.com At this time, in the first decade of the twentieth century, Buster Keaton's father, Joe Keaton, had started a summer Actors' Colony for vaudevillians between Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake in Michigan. Roberts became acquainted with the Keaton family as a member of this community.[http://www.actorscolony.com/colony.htm Members of the Muskegon Actors' Colony] at www.actorscolony.com

When Buster Keaton's film apprenticeship years with Roscoe Arbuckle/Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle came to an end, and Keaton began making his own shorts in 1920, he asked Roberts to join him. Roberts' hefty 6'3" frame, usually playing a menacing heavy or authority figure, made a striking and amusing contrast to the thin, 5'6" Keaton.

Patrick came up with - 'the car's mine.' We said it doesn't mean anything to us. He started threatening us.

She said we got to get his name off the title.

It was a done deal. Now Patrick regrets what happened.

We expect to have a great crowd to help us proclaim the glory of God and thank Him for allowing us to see His vision fulfilled. We hope everyone will come out - the entire community is invited to share this day with us.

The reason for the lights is simple. Wellesley has very limited open space, and our playing field space is extremely tight. Having the ability to put lights at Reidy would allow us to, really, double the utilization of our primary field.

It's rewarding being with these people, making a connection with them, and being able to take them out to the cemetery. It's just a real special time.

Our former worship center was built in just 90 days. This new building may have taken a little longer, but I have to say it was icing on the cake to dedicate the new building last Sunday.

We broke ground in 2000. We took our time and did most of the work ourselves. Our new building is really something to be proud of.

I suspect we?ll see him in the top 10 for some time to come, and he?ll probably be at the top of the list.
