The girls maintained their composure and that made the difference. I was very proud of Kyler and Wood as they led the way with scores of 41 and 42. We had help from Courtney Hinen and Ellen Hazelet with scores of 48 and 49.

I heard a great explanation from Debbie Colberg, the volleyball coach at Sacramento State. She said the reason coaches scream is not for the kids, it is for the adults. If a kid screws up, yelling lets everyone know that, 'I didn't teach the kid to do that.' There's a feeling that I've got to yell or people won't think I am coaching.

We will say, 'Do you agree?' ... And they always say yes.

The question is, when someone acts like that, what do people do? We say you have more power than you think. Having a parent or a group of parents speak to a coach is a good thing.

We're definitely making progress. Just the reaction to that guy is progress. Ten years ago his behavior wouldn't have even been noticed.

This was a great match that came down to one stroke at the end. We had every chance to win, but just couldn't find the way to come out in front.

[COLUMBIA CITY - Brittney Kyler finished with a round of 41 and Natosha Wood finished the day right behind her with with a 42 as the Columbia City High School Lady Eagles' golf team edged Leo at Eagle Glen Golf Course, 180-184.] We escaped with a victory in this match, ... This was a match where they had the lead, we caught up and went ahead, and then we tried to give away.

The match got very exciting at the end when Ellen Hazelet came in with a fine round of 46 and gave us a chance to pull this one out.

It is a crapshoot. When you get a good coach for your kid, you feel like you are in heaven. When you get a bad one, it is hell.
