Derby came out all fired up. They had a pep band and the place was noisy. They played us close for about four minutes. But we were just quicker and more physical than they were. We forced a lot of turnovers with our full-court press.

It was a funny kind of game. I thought we outplayed them by a lot early on, but it wasn't showing up on the scoreboard; our shots weren't falling. Still, we had a good lead at the half, a lead we gave away in the third.

The kids played with a lot of fire and that's good to see, especially on the road.

In a lot of our games we've gotten off to slow starts. That wasn't the case tonight.

Brittany [Jackson] had 12 points, all in the first quarter and all coming off steals. Our press gave them a lot of trouble.

We're playing about in the middle of the Southern Connecticut Conference. We're beating the weaker teams, in fact, we're winning those games handily. But we're not playing well against the better teams. We need to improve so we can be more competitive against the good teams.

Hillhouse is a very, very good team. They play basically five girls, but they're outstanding players and every one of them is quick. They had us turn the ball over far too often.

Law beat us earlier in the season. So we're looking forward to playing them.

We played very hard defense all game. I think we just wore them down. We pressed the entire game and I think they just got tired.
