FameRank: 4

"Jevon Kearse", nicknamed ""The Freak"," is an American former football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons during the late 1990s and 2000s. Kearse played college football for the University of Florida, and received All-American honors. A first-round pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.

Kearse played for the Eagles for four seasons between stints with the Titans. During his first five years with the Titans, he was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year/AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1999. Both his unusual speed of 4.43 forty and wingspan, coupled with a 38-inch vertical leap greatly impressed coaches and earned him the nickname "The Freak."

They have a pretty good running attack, with [Warrick] Dunn, [T.J.] Duckett and Vick. We did a good job of stopping all those weapons. If you can [shut down the run and] look forward to the pass, you know what to expect.

You can't blame him, with all the stuff he's been through, especially going through all of the rehab in the offseason. He's making plays and it's good for me because maybe I won't see as many double-teams or whatnot.

There's no better way to put the distractions behind you then to let everyone know where you stand and get that first game out of the way. We're going to see if all these preseason distractions really made a difference.

I'm like, 'Man, for what?' He said, 'I've got something to prove.' You can't blame him, all the stuff he's been through.

We want to get ourselves into the history books, too.

We just have to play football, and you win games from week to week.

I never heard anything like that. Then to see it ... a helicopter!

It's a statement game, preseason or not. We are trying to make a statement for the rest of the world, so they can see that we are going to be the best defense.

N.D. has been talking since the first game, when they took us out after the first quarter against Pittsburgh.
