They are so anxious to say the program is working, they are turning their backs on the most vulnerable elderly.
These are Medicare's most vulnerable beneficiaries, and some of them are going to die because of this.
It really is survival of the fittest.
This plan was supposed to provide coverage for people who had no drug coverage. It was supposed to help some of our lower income people.
We could see the problems coming. We expressed concern, and it was just pooh-poohed. Now, our worst fears have been realized.
It's an enormous mess ... a real nightmare.
These vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities had good coverage under Medicaid. Now they are in danger of dying because they cannot get access to their medically necessary prescription drugs.
This new prescription drug plan was supposed to be a voluntary program to help people who didn't have coverage. All this is doing is harming the people who had coverage, America's most vulnerable citizens.
They need to scramble to learn the new bill...and many may find when they go to the pharmacy, they can't go to that one anymore, or their drug might not be on the formulary of the new plan.
