This is a huge step forward in true autonomy of Indian Nations. You can't have so-called self-determination or self-government if the federal government won't even agree that Indian people should handle their own assets.

The judgement of 2005, which reads to me like a judgement written in 1905, basically says that the Queen can do no wrong and that the Queen can ignore the treaty. In my view, the federal government, when it comes to Indians, can do whatever it wants. It's a pretty devastating loss.
