"Jake Shields" is an American male mixed martial arts/mixed martial artist, currently fighting in the Welterweight (MMA)/welterweight division for the World Series of Fighting. He was the last Rumble on the Rock#Rumble on the Rock champions/Rumble on the Rock Welterweight Champion, the only Elite XC Welterweight Champion, a former List of Shooto Champions/Shooto Welterweight Champion and former List of Strikeforce champions#Middleweight Championship/Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. He also fought for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He has trained extensively with Fairtex SF and Cesar Gracie, and is a member of the "Skrap Pack" which includes fellow Cesar Gracie students David Terrell (fighter)/Dave Terrell, Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. After his loss to Akira Kikuchi he won 15 consecutive fights over six years, until his loss to Georges St-Pierre. He describes his style as American Jiu-jitsu.

I got him to the mat and kept dropping elbows on him. I kept hammering away at him, and he never really had a chance to gain control of the fight.

They look for the best fighters from around the world, and to just be picked is a big deal. To win it is even better. Everyone here presents a challenge.

The sport was recently legalized in California, so I'm talking to some people about possibly fighting closer to home soon. We'll have to see what happens though. People in Hawaii are very excited about martial arts, and I think the sports is just starting to take off.

There's no politics involved. It's about as fair a way you can have to determine a champion.
