We just received confirmation from [a WHO-affiliated laboratory in] Hong Kong that they were infected with the bird flu virus.

Her family said a number of chickens belonging to her neighbors had died suddenly before she fell ill. So, she must have contracted the virus from the sick birds.

It's been confirmed. We were informed of the results this morning.

The 22-year-old man died at 2 p.m. He was the vendor from a traditional market and the only positive case that we were treating today.

When we admitted her the condition was already bad.

Based on the clinical symptoms, it looks like bird flu. We have taken samples and the test result should be available in the next two or three days.

The patient is a suspected bird flu case. He had a history of contact with live and dead chickens.

Even so, the health ministry has confirmed that the six died of bird flu. Tests in Hong Kong are for the purpose of WHO's record.

We now have a total of six patients being treated for suspected bird flu infections.
