"Ike Wister Turner" was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, arranger, A & R/talent scout, and record producer. An early pioneer of 1950s in music/fifties rock and roll, he is most popularly known for his work in the 1960s in music/1960s and 1970s in music/1970s with his then-wife Tina Turner in the Ike & Tina Turner/Ike & Tina Turner Revue.

Turner began playing piano and guitar when he was eight, forming his group, the Kings of Rhythm, as a teenager. He employed the group as his backing band for the rest of his life. His first recording, "Rocket 88", credited to "Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats", in 1951 in music/1951 is considered a contender for "First rock and roll record/first rock and roll song". Relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1954 in music/1954, he built the Kings into one of the most renowned acts on the local club circuit. There he met singer Anna Mae Bullock, whom he renamed Tina Turner, forming The Ike & Tina Turner Revue, which over the course of the sixties became a soul/rock crossover success.

Piano's really my instrument ,and that's what they'll see when I get to Tokyo this time. They never saw me play the piano.

The basic tracks I originally cut on a computer at my house, and then I over-dubbed it live. But I got the feeling I wanted here on the computer.

I used to write songs so fast like this, like snapping my fingers. Some of them didn't even have a title, for I just did the song.

I think you have to advance with the times, you know. With hip-hop and rap and house music, they make loops and do stuff with loops.

I miss riding those fast trains in Japan... 'cause I'd never seen a train that fast in my life.

Most times, people have some acts that they really like. I mean, I don't have any in particular that I admire. I admire them all, you know.

A lot of people believe that the movie is the true story, that Tina did. I don't wanna debate on Ike & Tina, but I have to say this one thing... That movie was the biggest lie, and even Tina said that it's a lie. And she don't like the movie. But she started put gas on the fire by supporting it.

I put together one song, Bonnie Raitt put together a song. Ah, what's his name, the other guitar player? Gatemouth Brown! Yeah, he did a side on Joe Louis Walker.

They'll probably start working on my movie sometime... They are doing a complete movie of my life story. It will not be based on any negativity. It will be more about my life, from a kid, how I came up and why I came through.
