We certainly thought that based on (Cousins') prior actions, he certainly would have armed himself with that.

We were very concerned about this guy being extremely dangerous.

We had our tactical medics render aid to him immediately, and that is when we got him out of the house and evacuated to the hospital.

Honestly, I think the citizens of this county, the taxpayers, expect us to do the right thing here. We're just trying to go by the simple principle of how would you like to be treated if in this situation.

There is no indication that Officer Hammond acted inappropriately. He certainly did what he was supposed to do. He was protecting himself and his fellow officers. It is very fortunate none of them were seriously injured.

I don't know what we'll pay at this point. I'm sure we'll pay more than the deductible.
