I've always been told by parents how well our team handles these competitions.

Historically in Deltona, we work on trying to make it a better place to live and who is going to be the better person to do that. That's not what's happening in this campaign.

We have come a long way in five years. We have added some great people who happen to be fast runners and we should finish under 21 hours and in the top 25.

Exceptional performances from everyone on the team. Considering the terrain -- serious elevation drops and rises, trails and dusty dirt country roads in complete darkness other than the flashlight the runner carries -- for a team from Florida to do this well is terrific.

The state tournament was a big one and we managed to win it by a few points over Estes Park.
