"Douglas Lee Griffin" is a former Major League Baseball second baseman who played in the American League for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim/California Angels (1970) and Boston Red Sox (1971–77). He played his high school ball at El Monte High School (California), graduating in 1965, where he achieved All-Pacific League, All-Valley, and All-California Interscholastic Federation honors. He also lettered in basketball, football and track.

After a brief stint with the Angels in 1970, Griffin was sent to the Red Sox in a six-player trade that sent popular outfielder Tony Conigliaro to the Angels. Griffin was the Red Sox' regular second baseman from 1971 until mid-1975. He was not a particularly good hitter, posting mediocre batting averages with few Base on balls/walks and very little power, but he was an excellent fielder, winning a Gold Glove Award in 1972.

They can throw over any defense you throw at them, and they made it awful tough for us to throw over them offensively. Their size is a huge determining factor.

West Jeff is another dangerous team, just like Northridge. They've got a couple of real good shooters. They're not big, but they'll probably press us (defensively) most of the game.

I keep telling the girls good free-throw shooters are made during the summer. Once you get into the season you keep practicing them but you're really not going to improve all that much.

Seeding isn't an exact science. If it was, they'd be no reason to play the games.

We didn't fight real hard for part of the second and things snowballed. They got some quick transition buckets, and we couldn't get shots to drop. Their size makes it awful tough to match up with them; we didn't have real good looks at the basket and we forced some shots.

She's been in double figures every game. She had four (points) tonight. Two years ago with these seniors, we spent the majority of preseason and even early into the year promoting defense, and it's really paid off.

She's still making sophomore mistakes. But she's working hard and improving every game.

It's nice to still be in the hunt. A lot of good teams are done already.

It'll be one of the biggest games these girls have ever played in. As good as we've been the past couple of years they've never won a league championship in any sport.
