"David Coltart" is a Zimbabwean lawyer, Christian leader and politician. He was a founding member of the Movement for Democratic Change (pre-2005)/Movement for Democratic Change when it was established in 1999 and its founding Secretary for Legal Affairs. He was the Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South in the Zimbabwe House of Assembly/House of Assembly from 2000 to 2008, and he was elected to the Senate of Zimbabwe/Senate in 2008. He is the Legal Secretary for the formation of the Movement for Democratic Change – Ncube/Movement for Democratic Change led by Welshman Ncube. He was the Minister for Education, Sport, Arts and Culture from February 2009 until August 2013.

My case is different because of the type of electorate in my constituency. They have been supportive all along.

If that is the case they will be faced with a constitutional problem. Their actions will be meaningless in terms of Section 41 (1)(e) of the constitution which requires that the party informs the Leader of the House that a sitting MP is no longer their member.

With the amount of violence that has gone on, with the total denial of access to the media, with the fact that we have not had an opportunity to look at the voter rolls yet, there is just no way that a free and fair election can be held.

This is either a snub to Mbeki or an indication South Africa is complicit.

He's been trying to create the conditions necessary for a state of emergency because that's the only way he can postpone this election.
