"David Roy Akers" is an American football placekicker who is currently a free agent. He played college football for the Louisville Cardinals football/University of Louisville, and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons in 1997. He has also been a member of the Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins, Berlin Thunder, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and the Detroit Lions. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl six times in his career and was at one point tied for the Field goal (American and Canadian football)#Longest field goal records/longest field goal in NFL history.
