This project is not a large project in terms of state funding.

The Transportation Commission has looked at alternatives to generate enough money to fill the needs we have. We think this is the only way to bring in enough money in a timely way.

We've been working since the late '80s to get 49 widened. This will be an uphill battle.

That proposal reduced the scope of the project to keep it within the funding that's available from the state, based on their projected cash flow for the next five years.

By reducing the scope of the project, we can show the state that we have a viable project and viable funding and we can move ahead.
