At this stage of my career I don't want to come in and compete. You know what I can do.

I had practice yesterday, today, and I've got a game Thursday night, so I'm back into it. (Washington has) pretty much the same standard as all football teams. I hope to be with them for a while, I hope it works out. I hope to have a good year, to maintain a 36 net average or better like I did every year in Atlanta. I'd like to keep that up.

To be honest, the building trades are going to be able to turn out more people, but we're all in this together, along with the Sierra Club. I know Peninsula Interfaith Action is going to try to turn out some people, too.

People are already expressing concern about conflicts of interest and how we're going about this.

Fortunately, in my position, I don't have to learn plays or new formations ? it's just catch it and kick it. That's pretty universal throughout the league, ... So I'll just keep doing what I've been doing for 15 years. It's just a different venue, different city.

Coach Gibbs said...he didn't know if (Tupa) was going to go on injured reserve, or rehab, or whatever. So, he wants a veteran in here that's a good holder. And that he doesn't have to worry about as far as holding and stuff like that, field goals, end punts. So he called me, and I'm here.

It's a weird situation. I'm coming in here in such a short time. It takes a couple practices to get your timing down. I got my start on it today. You could tell I was rusty. But I don't mind getting thrown in there. It's not too hard being a punter. It's not like I have to learn plays.

I feel like I've done it this long, I can do it a couple of more years. It's kind of hard with him being gone and us being here, but it's only four months I guess. Depending on if they go to the playoffs, which I hope they will.
