I told them, 'You know what? I'm wrong. I've thought all year we were good enough to go to state. I guess I'm wrong. Load 'em up,' ... I truly felt I'd let the guys down. I felt that somehow I hadn't done the right things to let them reach their full potential.

Anytime you win when you're not playing your best, it's the mark of a good team.

We're confident, but also a little wary.

It's one of the most phenomenal things I've ever seen, and I coached basketball 26 years at Otterbein (College). During the summer, he'd go through four hours of two-a-days then go out and play 18 holes. One day he shot 73. I don't know when he sneaks in the extra time to play.

Early in the season, I went and printed off the state field from last year and told the guys we'd be right in the middle of the 12 teams.

[Carlisle credits Wood for his leadership in helping pull the Royals through some regular season adversity.] He's our leader, and one of the best players in the province if you ask me, ... He's a man, not a boy. He's a true team player and I really respect him.

He's two-for-two now. I think his leadership and being able to get off to an early start like that has helped the other players to feed a little bit off of his momentum. He's very consistent and has improved even more this year.

I look at Chatham and Moncton, I'm a little wary of them too. They beat us 11-9 down there and they can hit the ball. Ben Higgins, at 15 years old, is probably one of the top three or four young ballplayers in the province.

The best way to get your message out is word of mouth. The most important thing is to have someone [viewers] trust in their lives tell them that they have to watch a show.
