When we can get out here and play day-to-day, we're a different team. We've had a lot of inactivity between games, and they're a little ahead of us. But I like our team. When we get some games under our belt, we're going to be pretty good.

He's conscientious about baseball. After last season, he came to me and said he's got to play somewhere. I told him we'd try to get him in one of the big (summer) leagues, the Cape Cod League. He said he never worked much because baseball has been his focus. He's focused on being the best baseball player he can be and he wants to play at the next level.

It's a pretty ballpark. There are a few things we still need to do, with drainage, and we've got four more billboard-type banners to add to the outfield wall. We would love to have them up by Saturday. We're hoping to have a lot of former players here.

We were probably one batter away from knocking him out. But we let him off the hook and he settled down.

We're still trying to find some starting pitchers. I was real disappointed that we couldn't get more out of Mitchell, but I thought Williams came in and did a pretty good job.

We had all kinds of chances to win this game. But if you keep a good team in the game long enough, eventually they're going to find a way to beat you. And they executed in the ninth inning.

That's the driving force with him. It's fun to watch a kid that sets their mind about doing something. Last year he missed five weeks but was a big difference maker for us down the stretch.

We swung the bats much better, got a big lead and got to look at some pitchers who've been hurt a little bit. They came back on us a little bit, but the guys did what they had to do.
