"Robert Keith "Bob" Rae", Queen's Privy Council for Canada/PC, Order of Canada/OC, Order of Ontario/OOnt, Queen's Counsel/QC is a lawyer, negotiator and former Canada/Canadian politician. He was the Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre and was the former interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2011 to 2013. He was previously leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party and the List of premiers of Ontario/21st Premier of Ontario, from 1990-1995.

Rae was a New Democratic Party (Canada)/New Democratic Party (NDP) Member of Parliament from 1978 to 1982. Then he moved to provincial politics, serving as leader of the Ontario NDP from February 7, 1982 to June 22, 1996. After leading his party to victory in the Ontario general election, 1990/1990 provincial election he served as the List of premiers of Ontario/21st Premier of Ontario from October 1, 1990 to June 26, 1995, and was the first person to have led a provincial NDP government east of Manitoba. While in office, he brought forward a number of initiatives that were unpopular with many traditional NDP supporters, such as the Social Contract (Ontario)/Social Contract. Rae's subsequent disagreement with the leftward direction of the NDP led him to resign his membership and join the Liberal Party of Canada/Liberals.

This was a mass murder. This was a bombing attack carried out on Canadian civilians and the consequences of that have to be understood by the people of Canada.

For me, this is a great opportunity to serve and ultimately it will be a decision of the delegates of the Liberal Party as to who they want to be their leader.

When other countries seem to be able to move forward in that area, I think Canadians expect to see their governments to be able to do the same thing.

Love is stronger than hate.

What happens to Canada and what happens to Canadians matters. I believe that Canada needs a party that embraces change.

But I can say one thing -- I will not say a negative word about anyone on this platform.

I didn't think we were going to win.[after winning the Ontario Provincial election 1980].

It isn't realistic in this province to think that tuition is going to be frozen indefinitely. It doesn't make sense.

I think he adds a lot of perspective to any discussions about the future of the country.
