The director's testimony on behalf of the mayor offers us a magnificent 16 cent reduction in our residential property tax rate. That's just about to me and the people I'm speaking on behalf of an insult.

This is a major problem that affects most of the people.

It's all about accountability. If they're going to raise the rate, they can no longer blame the fluctuation of the real-estate market. They can't blame the speculators. They have no one to blame but themselves.

I was disappointed in some respect to see that some of these bills had been submitted have an effective date of July 1, 2007, which is going to be no help to the people who need the relief now.

We want our property tax rates lowered significantly and substantially and meaningfully. So far we have not seen anything in that direction.
