In many markets we are at the low point [in adopting WAP] and we should move up. It has to move up within the next six months or the key players will be impacted because there is a lot of money at stake.

There's a good strategic fit if you look at it that way.

If you look at what is popular in Korea with the early adopters of technology, we expect these to be very similar [in the Mainland]. In Korea, wireless stock trading and messaging have been very popular.

There is clearly increasing pressure on WAP (wireless application protocol). NTT is pushing very hard to impose I-mode as an alternative to WAP.

The problems faced [in the Mainland] are the usual problems [with WAP].

I expect this to happen, so it's not exactly all doom and gloom [for WAP].

Both companies had to do something and this deal is probably the best they can do.

On paper, there is a good strategic fit between these two companies. The challenge, as always, is execution.

They need to get out of competition on a deal-to-deal basis.
