The U.S. and France don't want a regime change. They want the actions of the regime to change. A regime change could mean chaos and create more instability and more anti-U.S. and anti-Israeli feelings across the region.

In the street this morning they followed me. This is new.

Syria wants to show it has time to think about such issues.

The regime wants to reach some kind of agreement because they want to stay in power. The problem may be that Syria has nothing to bargain.

There is no chaos. There is no probability, zero, for a coup.
