Homelessness among seniors is a tragedy we never want to see happen. Fortunately, the city does not have a large population of seniors without permanent housing, and although we have seen a slight increase - less than one-half percent - they make up less than 3 percent of the city's homeless population overall.

My impression so far is there's not a lot of foot traffic going by.

He was very popular. He got along with everybody.

Despite the cold weather, more than 2,000 concerned New Yorkers are taking part in HOPE 2006 and will be surveying city streets, parks and other public spaces to count the number of street homeless.

I'd love to see a place where people could get together with their animals and meet other people.
