We haven't really changed anything with the Riesling since we started making it in 1980 - always aiming for an off-dry style with about 1.5 percent residual sugar, which is tart enough to give you that pleasing sweet-and-sour tang that goes so well with spicy foods, yet rich enough to stand alone as a sipping wine.

It was a great team effort. We've got some real good shooters out there, and they relaxed and shot the ball.

I didn't plant Gewurztraminer because I already had Riesling and felt that it was my niche wine. And after all, there was already plenty of good Gewurztraminer in Anderson Valley.
