Its really exciting just to think about. Were going to have 32 premier programs playing right here, and its truly an honor to have this type of opportunity.
To finish third out of 32 teams is a great accomplishment for our kids, program and coaching staff, ... I still feel like we were the best soccer team in this tournament, and it would have been great to play for the title. But we have nothing to hang our heads about.
The one good thing is that we were able to tie the game up playing a man down.
I don't know what was wrong with us. Either we were nervous or were just not that good.
We showed signs in the beginning of the game, but then we panicked at times. We didnt execute things that are considered staples of a good program, and thats something that concerns me.
That was a tough loss for us to take, ... But our victory in the third-place game against New Trier put us in a very good position to be voted into a high seed going into the sectional seeding meeting (tonight/Wednesday).
Despite an unfortunate loss to Wheaton South, we played solid soccer throughout the tournamentincluding that particular loss.
But at the same time, I realize how lucky we were to escape with a tie. John made some big-time saves or else we would have been 0-1.
