We probably did about as good a job as you can do against a pitcher like her. We had a lot of people on base, but we didn't execute like we needed to. When you face a pitcher like her, you've got to take advantage of the chances you get.
Deanna is a great pitcher, one of the best pitchers in the state. She does not get enough recognition for what she's capable of doing.
Naturally, they were disappointed because we felt we were the No.1 seed for a reason. But we did not play up to our ability that game.
She's a freshman with three years' experience. We've had her since seventh grade.
It was a battle and we knew it would be. But hey, it turned out the way we liked.
We have two good pitchers who complement each other. We do not want to put the pressure on her to carry it. Some schools might like to do it. That's not how we do it here. We do not want to give her the impression to have to do that.
