Randy complements our line. He sees the ice really well. When the puck comes around the wall, he's got a good set of hands. He can get a lot of loose pucks out to Gabby.

You have to give the Rampage a lot of credit. Their game plan was to put the puck on net and keep it in their zone, and they were able to do that with pressure.

The biggest thing is shutting him down through the middle and keeping him to the wall, and trying to keep the puck along the boards. It's going to be a challenge.

Duncan Keith

I just crashed the net. Nose to the grindstone. The puck dropped in the crease and I tapped it home.

Jonathan Cheechoo

He's small but explosive. He's a great skater and handles the puck exceptionally well.

Ron Ivany

I don't necessarily agree with some of the things he does. He hits a guy a half hour after he passes the puck -- that's boarding, that should be a penalty. And every time he hits he lifts his feet, that's charging. It's ridiculous. He gets so much publicity, I don't know if that's the reason it doesn't get called. Anybody who leaves their feet should get two minutes for charging.

Jordin Tootoo

It was so obvious because the puck was 100 feet away from the kid and they'd still be chasing him around.

Wes Parent

I understand there are people who were here before, like Mario [Lemieux], and he was the quarterback of the power play. We're probably going to use his skills a lot, so I'm probably not going to have the puck as much, but that's OK with me. As long as we're successful.

Sergei Gonchar

There's got to be a sense of urgency. We didn't work hard enough to get the puck.

It (the power play) was on tonight. It's all about moving the puck well and shooting at the right moment. That's what we're doing right now.

Christian Ehrhoff

First job is to stop the puck. (Then) worry about where it goes. You beat it out, set, then stop it. You gotta know where the puck is going, where the position of the guy is that's shooting.

Steve Silverthorn

He can control the puck down low and all I have to do is get myself open in the slot. He played the same way (in college). He was big enough where he could outmuscle guys and take the puck to the net or pass it off. He's smart all around, a good power forward.

Ryan Bayda

You never know what can happen when you shoot the puck.

Darin Hickey

I knew I was going to cut to the middle, but I didn't know when or how. The guy went flying, and I flipped the puck up, knocked it down and shot it.

I see him a lot more mature, a lot more poised and mature with the puck, too.

Ruslan Fedotenko

I'm looking forward to (playing against Lemieux) more than all the other hype the media is raising. It's a dream come true. Once the puck drops it's all about business, but it's definitely going to be cool. It's still going to be a special day.

We made mistakes and they put the puck in our net. (Their goalie) played well and we didn't get the bounces.

Nathan Rosychuk

Dave Fryer

They have really good individual talented players. They move the puck pretty well, they all shoot well. They're pretty dangerous there.

Jon Landry

Wil Nichol

As if often happens in overtime, a harmless situation can be disastrous. The wrong guy ended up with the puck on his stick from our standpoint.

Tim Army

Wayne Gretzky

When he gets the puck, people start to come out of their seats. It's expect the unexpected with Max.

Steve Rucchin

This team has a lot of talent. When it gets confident with the puck, it's over.

Lyndsay Wall

We're definitely running into a hot goalie, but we're kind of making him look good. He definitely made some big saves, but we put the puck right at him. We definitely need to have more urgency in our game.

David Hymovitz

He's poised with the puck and never puts himself in dangerous positions. He's like a silent assassin.

Ric Jackman

Very rarely have we gone for a physical, stay-at-home defenseman. We're looking at transitional guys with the feet to jump in and the hand skills to move the puck.

Mike Guentzel

The atmosphere, and the way we fought for every puck, was unbelievable, ... It was a big difference in the way we play, but we still have a lot of work to do.

We have a number of girls that can put the puck in the net. She's a good goal scorer.

Kyle Ellingson

My head was turned toward the puck and I saw him out of the corner of my eye. He got a pass, the puck was in front of him. I don't think it was a dirty hit. Stuff like that is going to happen in this game.

Mike Ayers

I didn't think he'd have the guts to do it in an actual game. It's very easy to lose the puck and not even get a shot on net in that situation.

Tim Thomas

Our penalty kill was as close to perfect as it could be. In their zone we were tremendous and our pressure up ice was really good. There were great clears and the guys really let me see the puck.

Alex Auld

We've been working on getting the puck to the net and that paid off tonight. We got some goals in front ? and it's not easy to get there ? but there's work for us yet to do.

Tim Ebner

I thought it'd be a 4-3 game. They dominated in the first five minuets, and we dominated the rest. We moved the puck really well.

Dave Morse

Even though he was young in the league last year, he really stood out. The thing about him is that he has lots of poise and never panics. I don't like playing against him because he's so calm with the puck, he never panics and he rarely makes mistakes.

Chris Hulit

He's around the puck. He plays with a lot of grit and energy.

Tom Serratore

Things are going well, things are clicking. Sometimes, you're playing well, you're moving the puck around, getting chances, and it doesn't go in for you. But ... the puck is going in.

Jonathan Toews

When you got a few guys out of the lineup, the other team has the puck. It's almost 60-40. When you got the puck, you're not going to be taking many penalties. Sometimes, it's now how many you take it's when you take them.

Wes Walz

They couldn't get around Nick Barron on defense. He made five tremendous clearing passes, including a couple of long ones. That puts their defense back on their heels. Our defense skated the puck out of our end and sprung our forwards.

George Demello

I'm just coming down a little from the emotion. I thought we played with a lot of emotion and a lot of heart today, and did the little things and put the puck in the net enough times to pull out a huge win for us.

Laura Halldorson

He doesn't really shoot a lot. He can score, there's no question about it, but he likes to pass. He likes to hold on to the puck because he's so big and strong. He's so great with the puck that I just have to find the holes because he draws a lot of attention. He could score 40 or 50, but he likes to pass a lot more.

Glen Murray

You have to put the puck in the back of the net. It's not good enough to be getting good chances.

Patrick Marleau

It makes things a lot easier. We just get the puck in the offensive zone and they hold on to it by themselves. We just stand back and watch them every now and then. It's fun to watch.

Cam Brown

It was definitely a good game. The first two periods, I was kind of fighting the puck, but we knew this was going to be an important game and it was good for us to play well.

Daniel Girardi

The puck hadn't been going in lately. I had to stick with it and stay positive. I'm glad I finally got one in.

Jason Arnott

He's been dangerous every time he's been on the ice. But at the same time, he's so calm with the puck. That calm really spreads to the other guys on the bench.

Mathieu Dandenault

Both goalies had great games. It was just our inexperience that kept us from putting the puck in the net.

Jack Heavey

He's so patient and poised with the puck. He's playing with a ton of confidence.

Ric Jackman

We'll have to stay compact defensively and get the puck out. If we ice the puck 50 times, we ice it 50 times.

Christoph Schubert

Puck movement is a huge thing, especially on the power play.

Josh Soares

When the puck hits me and you can see everything, it looks easy. It's a huge win for us.

Josh Harding

Sweeping UA was when it all clicked. We started playing together, which helped us put the puck in the back of the net.

Joe Ahern

Our main focus right now is our D zone coverage. Hopefully when the puck drops we'll be ready.

Doug Johnson

We've got two units that can put the puck in the net, so that makes it really difficult to guard against us.

Mathieu Schneider

The one thing that summarizes his style is that he just manages to get a piece of his equipment on the puck. He could be down and out or flopping around and he ends up getting something on the puck.

Greg Cronin

He made some unbelievable saves again tonight where he got a piece of the puck and kept us in the game and then kept the lead.

Jochen Hecht

He can handle the puck in a crowd, he has great speed. If they call the rules the way they say they are going to call the rules, he should be great.

Jason Arnott

I didn't see the replay, but common sense will tell you that if the glove and the arm are behind the goal line, there's a pretty good chance the puck is underneath it. I guess common sense doesn't mean anything there.

Brian Rolston

I probably give him more leeway out of the net than those pros had. He shoots the puck better than any of those guys, by far, at this stage of his career.

Grant Standbrook

If I can get my stick to lift up the puck backhand, I can score. It's my mistake.

Alexander Ovechkin

The kids are always moving, and teams can't keep up and stay with us. We move the puck and skate pretty fast, and teams have a hard time catching up to us.

John Belonger

We moved the puck around and got lucky. I got a clear shot.

Bryan Mccabe

When I got the second goal, I knew I had 100 goals so one of my teammates, Gillian Apps, grabbed the puck for me.

Hayley Wickenheiser

In a tight game like that in the playoffs, you just want to try to get the puck on the net and hope for a dirty goal or a tip, or a deflection. I was lucky enough it went straight in.

Brandon Dubinsky

It gets you hyper, more than anything. And how good is that on the ice, especially when you need to control the puck and be calm in certain situations?

Darryl Sydor

I think he made my career. Playing with a guy who can move the puck like that and control the game like that ... just to be part of it was unbelievable. I'm glad I'm here tonight.

Darryl Sydor

As soon as he touched the puck there were two or three people in his face.

Dan Fitzgerald

A lot of people thought he was going to be the next Paul Coffey, rushing the puck to the net, but that's just not his game up to this point. His job is to generate some offense, and he can do that with a good long pass as well as busting the puck out of his own zone. But that's all going to come.

Denis Potvin

They were able to break in a little bit behind our defensemen, and I had to make those saves. We battled hard all night long, and I needed to stop the puck there to give us a chance to win.

Josh Harding

The strategy is always the same; you have to stop the puck. We played shootouts in the AHL. You're already in the game and you're already calm, so it's not too bad.

Peter Budaj

They put the puck on the net and the rebound squirted loose and they beat our defenseman to it. It wasn't pretty.

Nick Iaciancio

I tried to stick my leg at (the puck), but it still went in.

Jussi Markkanen

I thought we shot the puck great this weekend. We had good movement on our power play. We generally have a good power play, but it was very effective tonight.

Scott Owens

Our team played good hockey from the drop of the puck. It was a back and forth game, and the final minute was a reflection of that.

Bob Gaudet

It was a judgment call by Kelly, ... He felt that someone pushed (Schaefer) into the net before the puck went across the line, and it couldn't be reviewed.

Brenden Morrow

We've had our chances in the past. But tonight, the puck went in.

Rene Bourque

I was just trying to stop the puck, wherever it was. I was fighting the puck a little bit.

Maxime Ouellet

Fedor had a strong game. He was strong with the puck and made good decisions and plays. We're looking for that high energy consistently. Not for two shifts or two periods, but the whole game and hopefully the next game as well. He's aware of how we like him to play.

Jim Schoenfeld

Colby and I like to shoot the puck and he does a great job looking to find us. There's no question he gives us a spark.

Nigel Dawes

I really like the way we fought back after that first goal. There was no panic whatsoever and I just think they had a feeling the puck was going to go in.

Rick Comley

They have been off a little bit lately. But they have good chemistry and they were moving the puck down low really well tonight. They were on tonight.

Greg Maxey

We had a lot of chances, that's all that matters. I think our puck movement was really good, so I think it was a really good first game for us. Everyone's a little tired and we'll get another good rest [Wednesday night].

Vinny Lecavalier

It's what you have to have from your top line — getting the puck in deep and getting on top of it. They support each other well and they're having success.

Joe Nieuwendyk

Right now we're struggling. We're not controlling the puck.

Dan Boyle

You just got to get open and he s going to get you the puck.

Christian Ehrhoff

The key for me is to use my skating ability. He made a very good move, and luckily I ended up being able to fall on the puck. It was one of those saves where you might not get it many times. I guess it was kind of a lucky save.

Dave Caruso

I'll be honest, I just threw the puck at the net. I was trying to find Richie (Brad Richards) in the slot. (The Devils) cover everything, so I just threw the puck on the net. I didn't even look where the goalie was.

Ruslan Fedotenko

You don't get tired when you pin your guy and get the puck out right away. You have more energy on offense. It definitely has a lot to do with the defensive side of the puck.

Pete Macarthur

He definitely has a nose for the net. He's just crafty when he has the puck.

Michael Rader

Jeremy Owen just kept pressuring the puck and creating chances for us all night.

John Porto

We came out strong in the first period and scored three power-play goals on the night. We move the puck really well.

Mike Cowan

Randy made a couple nice stops. They had a couple breakaways down the stretch that could have made it a 4-2, 4-3 game. He came up big when he had to. But the biggest difference was our puck control.

Ryan Sarazin

That's probably the best I felt all year. I was able to react to a few high deflections, which is key. You know you're square to the puck and reading the play well.

Dwayne Roloson

Our girls thought that play was off-side. The puck had cleared the zone, and when they scored we were on our way (out of the zone). We thought we got it out of the zone.

Don Parr

I've just been getting chances and the puck just seems to be finding the net.

Andy Mcdonald

We have really played them tough in the past. We really need to just take care of the puck and stay out of the penalty box.

Tom Sanvik

The power play could have won us the game easily. It provided us with enough opportunities. With that 5-on-3, I don't know what more we have to do. We moved the puck well and got behind the goalie of couple of times. It just didn't go in the net.

John Markell

This situation has been terrific for me. When you play with guys that can get you the puck, it's easier than having to do everything yourself, like I had to do in junior. You don't have to press as much. The game's simpler.

Patrick O'sullivan

Now, because of the new rules, you can't hold on as much and pin a guy against the wall. Guys are facing the glass a lot more. They position their body between you and the puck and try to play keep-away.

Denis Gauthier

It's a simple game. We just can't turn the puck over this much.

Nick Pollos

When you have Wolfgang Puck as your caterer, it pushes the break-even point up, ... If it was just on my own, I would have cut that budget.

Marc Geiger

It's huge (power-play goals). It's a momentum changer. It makes them (opponents) a little more shy because they don't want to give up any more penalties if your power play's going. We moved the puck right around really well, and it's nice to see that. Hopefully, we can keep it going.

Dave Baseggio

They go to the net, move the puck well and they're big and strong compared to us. They wore us down.

John Mcglynn

You can't afford to go out there and watch too much, ... If you get caught watching, you're not going to get to the puck and not going to make good plays.

Sidney Crosby

Shooting the puck quicker and passing the puck quicker: Those are two things we're not doing right now.

Corey Markham

I think the biggest thing I remember was there are so many animals in this state named Kirby, and if somebody had a cow or a horse, they named it Herbie. I was always second fiddle to Puck, and I loved every minute of it.

Kent Hrbek

Lake Placid clogged the middle and they were always around the puck. They played pretty well and battled all game.

Rob Francis

We didn't really get any power-play goals where we set up the puck and worked it the way we wanted. Still it was good to get five goals.

Henrik Sedin

Their speed and the way they move the puck hurt us, but giving up three goals in five minutes didn't help our confidence.

Todd Tretter

I thought Boucher was the best player on the ice that game. He was always around the puck. I kept noticing him on what seemed like every play.

Rand Pecknold

Dennis has tremendous skills, and he can put the puck home. All we tell him is to keep it simple.

Bob Gilligan

The reception has been unbelievable. People frankly are stunned at how fast the game is at that level. You can hardly keep up with the puck.

Steve Violetta

I just let them know the momentum was turning our way, I wanted to make sure they knew who gets the puck.

Laura Schuler

I went to get the puck and they waved icing off at the last second. I saw him coming out of the corner of my eye. I was against the boards so I was going to eat the puck. He came in high. I don't know if he came in with an elbow but he definitely left his feet.

Tom Preissing

I'm anxious for tomorrow. It's a hockey game and anything came happen the next day. Who knows, the puck might not go in for us. We played well tonight and our goal is to play a little bit better tomorrow. I'm real proud of our group and where they're at right now.

Bill Beaney

They really box it in. We try to get the puck down low and try and outnumber them down there and we couldn't even do that. We started getting pucks to the net and we didn't have bodies in front of the net, and that's a key.

Tom Mutch

He wins all the one-on-one battles for the puck. He makes you want to go out there and compete just as hard.

Derek Damon

I've felt better with the way I was just getting the puck up ice, playing smart defensively and playing well on the PK (penalty kill). I'm just trying to carry that into these last games of the season here.

Andrew Alberts

The way the game's played today, especially in the Olympic level on the big ice sheet, you need people that can skate well and handle the puck well. That's his forte.

Ron Mason

They're a little bright. But they stopped the puck.

Rick Dipietro

The whole goalie was in the net, so I'm sure the puck was in there with him. I've never seen a goalie freeze the puck with his pad.

Mark Bell

You can't turn the puck over on a draw like that, ... San Jose skates like the wind. There was no way for our guys to get back.

Chris Mason

He has real poise with the puck, so, when he gets it, he doesn't panic. That's probably the biggest key for him. He doesn't feel pressure to move it because there's pressure applied. He waits for the right play to happen and he passes the puck so darned well. When there is an opportunity, he makes that one pass and we're out of the zone.

Randy Hillier

Sean Payne brought it down and got the puck low, and they shot it out but it went up in the air. I just palmed it down. Nobody was on me; I saw the low corner.

Tim Horan

Chris (Collins) said to me (Saturday) that this was going to be your night and that gave me a lot of confidence to put the puck in the net.

Joe Rooney

Instead of going out there and playing UMSL, we went out there and were playing against the refs. We were afraid to put any kind of pressure on the puck, put any kind of contact on an UMSL player or anything. It basically caused us to play the complete opposite game we like to play.

Chris Lepage

It's going to be better for guys like me. Offensively, it's better. It's easier to go into the corners and keep control of the puck.

Mike Ribeiro

He's got the sweetest hands I think I've seen on a guy. He doesn't panic with the puck at all. He doesn't let too much intimidate him or rattle him out there, and that's a big thing.

Rob Niedermayer

Those kids really play our system as well as anybody. By just playing the same way and Gilbert jumping on board, it really gave all three of them an opportunity to get the puck to the net.

Don Hay

I hope when college coaches watch me they realize that I'm a hard worker. I handle the puck good and know what to do with it. I've been playing nonstop for the past four years, so I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done to win.

Maura O'connor

If they're anything like last season, they'll move the puck well. We don't know how we'll match up yet.

Tim Gannon

They had a lot of jump at the start of the game and they didn't let us have the puck.

Marc Crawford

We had a bunch of chances. You look at the names on our power play, and we should have two or three goals off that each night. Goalies can stop the puck if they are able to see it, and we didn't do a good job of that. We had a bunch of shots there at the end, and they just weren't going in.

Scott Hartnell

You could see that it didn't matter who was coming at him. The puck was not going to get behind Kyle Jones (Saturday). He seemed to see everything clearly, and even when it was a scramble, he was in proper position.

Tim Coghlin

Before I came to Nashville, I played left or right, so it doesn't really matter for me. Maybe some guys have a better backhand or forehand. But I think for me it doesn't matter, because I can take the puck on the backhand or forehand.

Martin Erat

I don't know if the net came off before or after the puck went in. That would have been big, but this is a game of breaks.

Jerry Reddinger

From my friend Wolfgang Puck to Ciro, when it comes to pizza, good taste can come from anything under the sun.

Bobby Flay

He's been the best defensemen in the league for 10 years. He just always makes the right play. When he's out there, guys like me have to be more aware of him when he has the puck, so that creates more room for the other guys.

Wes Walz

There must be a [heck] of a baseball game going on upstairs. And God must have needed a No. 3 hitter, because he took Puck way too soon.

Kent Hrbek

I was trying to poke check him a little bit and I missed the puck. It's mentally pretty hard.

Vesa Toskala

We all along said that we needed a puck-moving defenceman, and we've addressed that need. And the next stage of our needs (was) a centreman.
