"William Hull" was an United States/American soldier and politician. He fought in the American Revolution, was Governor of Michigan Territory (1805–13), and a general in the War of 1812, for which he is best remembered for surrendering Fort Shelby (Michigan)/Fort Detroit to the United Kingdom/British on August 16, 1812.
