Last season we were fourth in the conference as seventh-graders but when we defeated New Lenox Martino, I knew this season had some real good possibilities.

We run our zone but we use it with man defense principles. Our fundamentals were a big part of our success.

We felt we could be an improved team this season because we were always in the game last season. I didn't know how we would be early, but I felt we would there down the stretch.

That is when Brian took it upon himself to give the team a little talk, a little speech. He told the players that he was not going to lose this game and they were not, either.

We didn't get a lot of steals from the defense but we did disrupt their offense and took them out of their flow.

San Miguel had a quick team with quick hands, but they played that Chicago-style of ball — no blood, no foul. They also had a 6-foot-3 kid and they got away from going in to him. Plus, I think our guards were better than their guards, and that was the difference.

Chrisman came out and took our guards out of the game in the first half. They had some big guys inside and we just did not match up with them very well.

We are really looking forward to state. We go 6-1, 6-0, 5-10 and we are quick and talented. If we can keep our focus, keep our heads on straight and keep our composure, we should do well.
