We had tremendous interest in him; we wanted him to be part of our program. He wanted to pursue the opportunities of going to a D-I school. That process ran longer than I was willing to wait. ... He was a very, very high priority. We're very disappointed, but I couldn't wait forever.

He's one of the best coaches in the Coast Conference.

We had to do something. It was like a dungeon in there. It was real dark, and the office space was very representative of where you felt like the program was. It wasn't somewhere you wanted to be.

It has been a complete rebuilding process. And I don't think people really acknowledge - or know enough to acknowledge - what an unbelievable job Bob has done and how much of his heart and soul he's poured into that place. This is one of the great rebuilding jobs over the last couple decades, and it's pretty incredible.

James is the kind of guy you want to put in there when you're down 15 because you know something's going to happen. Every time he's got his minutes he's made the most of them.

Not only did they not win any games, they didn't go to school either. That's the kind of culture we walked into. That's the attitude they had about working and winning.

That was the biggest mistake I've made. If I could do one recruitment over, it would be Adrian Zamora.

In my 18 years of coaching I've never seen a 27-0 run.

Bob loves to shop. He likes to shop the way a woman likes to shop. I think it took him three weeks to pick out his chair.
