Hopefully in the future, children will read this book with their quilts and be able to forget about their cancer even for just a moment. That one moment of pure happiness is what makes the whole project worthwhile.

He flies on it, uses it like a sailboat, and fights off a bull with it. But in the end, he realizes it is his own courage that got him through all the obstacles. He realizes that he doesn't need the quilt–he can get through life without it.
