We're back at square one.

There is some inflammation in the muscle and it is his push-off leg, so that's a concern any time for a pitcher, ... We'll know more in the next day or so.

[Giants RHP Jason Schmidt is penciled in to start Saturday, though he's still nursing a pulled right groin.] I think he can make it based on what he's done, ... If he feels comfortable, I feel comfortable.

I think he can make it based on what he's done. If he feels comfortable, I feel comfortable.

He got a small but significant cut on his throat.  I don't want to over-dramatize it, but if it were a little deeper and a quarter-inch over, it would have been over his carotid artery. It didn't seem like much, but it could have been pretty bad.

We felt the same way, that we were losing because of our [training department], but once the emotions of the season subsided, we had to look at it objectively.

This was all his idea. When he left, he had no problems with the knee, but we will evaluate it tomorrow. This does not, in my mind, factor into when he will play in a game, and we do not have a timetable on that.

He didn't even want to try another pitch, ... It's similar to last year's injury, but in a different area of the muscle.
