Fifty years ago, there were no fish below the sewage-treatment plant because there was no oxygen. Now, there are reproductive issues. I don't know which is worse in some ways.

We kind of take water quality for granted now. But it was interesting to read that at the turn of the century, even with mining or mining-camp waste, Boulder residents took water right out of the stream.
