I really don't anticipate that the Massachusetts ruling will have much of an impact on other state courts because those courts will look at their own state laws and their own state constitutions, and rule accordingly.

We've seen a lot of progress.

I think we are doing things differently.

It will make all California families safer and more secure if it becomes law. The fact they debated and voted on this relatively quickly today sends a message that there is momentum for this bill.

This measure is about basic fairness for domestic partners. Domestic partners and their families deserve the conveniences and financial benefits that can come with filing a joint return.

We have a lot of work to do moving the American public to be more supportive of marriage for same-sex couples. And while we do that, we will win some battles and lose others. It is a long road ahead.
