We would like to possibly win the conference, win a regional and then be competitive thereafter in the state tournament.

We played a real lackluster game. It wasn't very good. (We) challenged the kids at practice yesterday (Monday) because we were rained out.

Hopefully we can improve on our (pitching) numbers from last year, and come conference and playoff time we should be pretty experienced. Bobby and Kyle have the ability to be dominant and Casey, Phil and Tony are solid, too.

I thought for 4-2/3 innings we played excellent. We backed down a little bit and they got back into it. We made some mistakes that we don't usually make. But it was nice to still win the game.

Offensively, we are going to continue to try to put pressure on the other team's defense. We are not a home run hitting team. The key will be how the younger guys added to our lineup produce. At the bottom of the order we need guys to step up and drive the ball. The first six or seven guys in our order are as solid as it gets. After that, we need the other guys to step up into roles.

It is nice to have guys back that you have coached before. You hope they would teach the younger players the ropes and also how to be a baseball player in this program. They are nice leaders, now I just hope the others follow.

We take a lot of pride in that, to be honest. It's one of the things that we've learned. If we're going to be a team that is a success, there are going to be days when our bats are asleep and we're going to need to manufacture. We're pretty good when we get on base, but sometimes we have to steal first.

Bobby threw really well. He didn't have great stuff but he threw strikes and kept them off-balance.

I thought our approach against Clifford was good. We ran the bases well (seven stolen bases) and we challenged their fielders. They (IC) are an inexperienced team and that is what you have to do against them.
