It's an incredible core workout. Which is of course a great thing. But also it's one more way to connect with the ocean, which spiritually is very important.

The Glades County School District Maintenance Team, led by Al Brown has also played a vital role in the completion of the project. In an effort to keep costs down, the maintenance department took on several tasks in the project instead of bidding them out to a sub contractor.

It's nothing to eat in one county, go to school in Athens and live in another county.

The problem is about speed.

Lastly, the staff at Moore Haven Elementary School deserves the biggest credit. The staff had to pack up all their teaching materials, personal materials and school district materials at the end of the school year last year to be moved from the 64,000 plus square-foot facility, then they have come back on their own time to unpack all those materials and get their rooms back in order.

This project was Phase I of the renovation. Next summer we will begin phase II, which will be total remodeling/reconstruction of the administrative area at MHES.
