It will boost the cost some. We don't know how much yet, but we certainly think that is part of it.

The old playhouse never had your own journey to it but this one does. It now has a separate identity.

And that is huge. Possibly during some summer months we'll allow this theater to be used by other groups. But we'll always have primary residence in this space, and that has never been the case before.

What's the single biggest thing the audience wants to know about? The most often asked question I get is not about the plays or the actors. It's about the seats.

I've been involved in the construction of several theaters around the country, but this is the first time I've even seen architects and builders so extraordinarily receptive and responsive to the needs of the theater and theater artists. They have really kept their eye on the ball and are treating this as a space specifically to make plays.

The theater is designed for the actors' voices. Now an actor can whisper anywhere on the stage and be heard.

It has always been my favorite Miller play because the politics of the play are deeply embedded in the characters. The ideas of two brothers who embody the viewpoint of selflessness and self-interest is a common and powerful theme of Miller's. It's hard to express how great this play is and how much I believe in it.
