"Richard Conlin" is a former member of the Seattle City Council, first elected to council in 1997 and reelected in 2001, 2005 and 2009. He was first elected, unanimously, by the council to be their president on January 7, 2008 and was unanimously reelected on January 4, 2010. He was defeated in the 2013 election for the seat by Kshama Sawant of Socialist Alternative (United States)/Socialist Alternative.

This is a significant corridor for commuter and freight traffic. We're certain there will be a need for enhanced transit there over the next five years. We need to be assured strategies are in place to meet the growing need as it appears less and less likely there will be a monorail serving this corridor.
