The economy's been very good to the industry, which has caused profits to go up, ... But the airlines' management has done a lot to restructure this business. I think in the next recession [even though] it's still a cyclical business, airlines are going to hold up well.

It's got a simple model, simple pricing, and many consumers seem to like that.

When you do code-sharing, it means one airline can book passengers on the other airline as if it were their own flight.

It is still a cyclical business, so management believes (it has) to keep some control over their costs. Other carriers have actually reduced some of their labor unit costs, and American has not been able to do that. That puts it at a cost disadvantage compared to some of its competitors.

They were so proud of it. It's the one thing they wanted to show you.

I'm only surprised that Northwest and Delta beat them into bankruptcy court.

If they haven't been able to attract an investor for the last year, I don't see how they can now.

When everybody's positive, that's the time to get out, isn't it? ... But I'm positive, too. This industry is hot, hot, hot, and the economy's going to get hotter. And even if it doesn't, people will still like to gamble.

We need to see how quick traffic levels come back.
