China is an enormous market of advanced users. Once the Chinese government approves its version of 3G, take-up will increase still further. People are getting hooked on having a connected device.

I think this is all about Orange marking its territory as a full service provider.

We will probably see card first approach. It will be promoted to business notebook users, and there will be data cards before there are phones.

Before we see significant uptake, operators need to sort out predictable costs. There are flat monthly charges, but they tend to have a usage limit of 1 Gigabyte. Those details need to be sorted out.

The uptake across business users for 3G data cards has been very positive.

As usual this is a lock-in attempt by Sony on the valuable accessories market. This in keeping with Sony's strategy of getting Memory Stick onto all its devices, but I do not see any other manufacturers getting behind it. It is not as though we're short on storage formats.
