Live oak in the age of wooden ships was the best available ship timber; it is strong and dense and more importantly it grows in gentle curves that are almost analogous to the frames in a ship's structure. So it's really excellent material for shipbuilding.

The Morgan is a powerful economic engine not just for the Seaport but the whole region. People come from far and wide to see it.

We'll take great pains to retain as much of the original wood as possible.
