FameRank: 6

"Petter Solberg", from Spydeberg in Østfold, is a Norwegian professional rallying/rally and rallycross driver. He is the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship champion - the first ever - after 5 race wins and 9 podium finishes.

Solberg debuted in the World Rally Championship in 1998 and was signed by the Ford World Rally Team/Ford factory team in 1999. The following year, Solberg started his successful partnership with the Subaru World Rally Team.

With the Subaru works team, Solberg finished runner-up to Marcus Grönholm in 2002 and then became the first Norwegian to win the List of World Rally Championship Drivers' Champions/drivers' world title in 2003. In the following two seasons, he finished runner-up to Sébastien Loeb. Following Subaru's withdrawal from the WRC at the end of the 2008 World Rally Championship season/2008 season, Solberg secured private backing to start the Petter Solberg World Rally Team and competed with a Citroën Xsara WRC, a Citroën C4 WRC and a Citroën DS3 WRC. He switched to rallycross after the 2012 season and in 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship season/2014 became the inaugural winner of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

It's too bad. I didn't want to end the season like this, but that's just how it is sometimes.

The engine seemed to drop to two cylinders and I couldn't see over the bonnet as it was so badly bent. I stopped for about 20 seconds and then continued.

Everything is perfect and we're winning stages. Marcus remains a threat and of course I'd like to take Sebastien but I think there's too much of a gap now.

It's the same story as yesterday morning and Sebastien did really well.

What can we do? Loeb just keeps taking every stage from us and no-one can keep up.

That was very good and things went well.

I tried very hard today and it doesn't look very good actually.

The final leaderboard showed that I won the event, but in my mind I finished second, ... Sebastien deserved the win, but I can understand the reasons why he did what he did. But now we all have to keep going - it's what Beef would have wanted.

They are too far away now to give it a proper fight.
