"Persius", in full "Aulus Persius Flaccus", was a Ancient Rome/Roman poet and satirist of Etruscan civilization/Etruscan origin. In his works, poems and satires, he shows a Stoicism/stoic wisdom and a strong criticism for the abuses of his contemporaries. His works, which became very popular in the Middle Ages, were published after his death by his friend and mentor the stoic philosopher Lucius Annaeus Cornutus.

Oh, what a void there is in things.

Is any man free except the one who can pass his life as he pleases?

We consume our tomorrows fretting about our yesterdays.

Out of nothing can come, and nothing can become nothing.

Each man has his own desires; all do not possess the same inclinations.

To-morrow is the day when idlers work, and fools reform, and mortal men lay hold on heaven.

He conquers who endures.

And don't consult anyone's opinions but your own.
