Paul Byrd
FameRank: 4

"Paul Gregory Byrd" is an American former professional baseball right-handed starting pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball from 1995 to 2009. He is known, perhaps ironically, as being the "nicest guy in baseball". In 2002, Byrd developed an old-fashioned, early twentieth-century windup in which he swung his arms back and forth to create deception and momentum. He became recognizable and well known for his unique delivery.

I think I figured it out, ... All teams that start with T give me trouble. Tampa, Toronto, Texas. But in all honesty, it's the way it goes. The balls I threw on the corners they hit and the ones over the middle they crushed. It's just one of those nights.

They picked me up, ... I can't say anything more than that.

My change-up didn't show up until the fourth or fifth inning, ... I hung up a couple of breaking balls in that (fourth) one inning.

I'm honored, excited and glad they're giving me the ball. I'm ready to go.

I have to give credit to Tampa Bay, they did a great job of hitting the ball. But the bottom line is, our offense overcame my poor start and I'll be able to sleep tonight because of that.

I sense momentum. I sense chemistry. I sense things coming together. I'm really excited about the way the team is playing and the way we're picking each other up.

I'm really excited about tonight.

I'm really excited about the way my teammates picked me up tonight. The bullpen and our offense overcame my poor start and I'll be able to sleep tonight because of that.

The thing I see is that we're getting the hits now. Before, maybe if a guy crushed a line drive, it was hit right at somebody for an out. Now the hits are starting to fall in and we're stringing them together.
